Gustatory: strong, bitter (but that nice kind of bitterness)

I got this late in the day. Which may have been a bad idea considering the buzz it gave me. But I had - have - no regrets about that. It was delicious and really nicely prepared. This latte comes unsweetened and has a really thickly prepared matcha as its base. Sydney’s not stingy with the powder (which might explain the steep $5-dollar price tag for a small) and they mix it pretty well. The tea wasn’t frothy, but it went down smoothly, with no chalky aftertaste. There wasn’t too much almond milk resting on top (the matcha/milk ratio definitely favors matcha), but I didn’t mind as I’m always happy with just matcha tea as well.
I also really like Sydney’s decor. It’s simple and the cafe gets a lot of sun: a lovely way to enjoy matcha and Tell Me How It Ends by Valeria Luiselli.
